701 CCA Prize 2018

The 701 CCA Prize is open to South Carolina artists age 40 and younger. The artists are judged by an independent jury on artistic merit, exemplary originality and awareness of artistic developments. The prize is awarded every two years. Carey Morton, Alexander Thierry, and Jena Thomas were selected as the finalists. Jena Thomas is the winner of the 2018 Prize.

South Carolina

Jena Thomas, Carey Morton, and Alexander Thierry are the 701 CCA Prize 2018 finalists. Jena Thomas, 2018 winner, received her MFA from the University of Miami in Florida. She has been a member of the art faculty of Converse College since 2016. Carey Morton is a native of Greenville, South Carolina. He received his BFA from Winthrop University and his MFA from Clemson University. Morton is an adjunct professor at the College of Charleston. Alexander Thierry is a St. Louis, Missouri native. He received his MFA in painting from the University of Kansas. He also received a BA in Painting, BFA in Ceramics and an MAE in Visual Art Education from Truman State University in Missouri. Thierry is an assistant professor at South Carolina State University.
